Do you have questions about this year’s Tour de Burren? Here are the answers to the most frequently asked ones.
The 160km and 120km spins roll out of Barefield at 9am sharp!
While the 80km rolls out at 9.15am.
The Family cycle rolls out at 9.45am.
There will be no mechanics on the road, and it is your responsibility to ensure your bike is in good working condition. Check tyres and tubes before you leave home and bring spare tubes with you.
There will be First Aid crews on hand to assist with any incidents. Their emergency number will be clearly shown on your event wrist band.
All routes are clearly marked with BLACK AND YELLOW directional signage. Each cyclist must make themselves aware of the route they have chosen to ride; event organisers are not responsible for any wrong turns.
On the longer routes (160Km and 120Km) the food stop will be in Ballyvaughan. The food stop at Ballyvaughan will offer sandwiches, cakes, biscuits, fruit and tea and coffee.
There will be a refreshment stop in Kilnaboy National School on the 80KM route.
Toilets are available in the car park field in Barefield and outside Hassett’s Bar.
There will also be toilets at the refreshments stops.
There may be showers and sunshine so come prepared for both.
While roads will not be officially closed for the event, there will be a rolling road closure at the start to make sure pelotins (main group of back riders) do not experience high volumes of traffic. Please be sure to always follow the rules of the road and expect the unexpected.
Free parking is available in Barefield. Follow the signage.
Car parking will take place in the field behind Hassett’s Bar.
Registration/sign in for all routes will take place in Barefield on the evening of Friday 20th June from 4pm – 8pm and from 7am on Saturday 21st June. You must register/sign in to the event to get your wrist band.
Campers are welcome to the Tour de Burren. You can camp for free in the field next to the car parking field. Alternatively you can book into our glamping site which has toilets and hot showers.
There are no showers available at the finish line. However, you can avail of shower facilities up to 5pm in Lees Road, Ennis.

Yes – all levels of cyclists are welcome! You can choose the route that suits your level of fitness and experience, and you will be well looked after on the road by marshals, back-up vehicles and First Aid personnel.
Electric bikes are welcome to also take part in the cycle. If you have any questions contact us directly tourdeburren@gmail.com.
All cyclists under the age of 18 years must be accompanied on the road by an adult and all cyclists choosing the longer routes should be over 16 years of age. For shorter routes cyclists should be over 12 years of age.

Upon completing the Tour de Burren, you will receive a participation medal and a 99 ice cream cone – enjoy!
