Every journey has bumps in the road. And while we share with you the news that the Tour de Burren is off the map for 2023, we’re excited to be gearing up with the wind at our back for the next chapter of this iconic Irish cycle sportive in 2024. And all roads are leading to excitement, challenge and victory…

In planning this ‘de-tour’ in our journey, the Club is guided by some of the values we hold close:

We’re Staying Focused

In 2016 the Burren Cycling Club formed a racing team which proudly went on to enjoy many victories and placing across the country. In 2023 we are committed to supporting this team in the Rás Tailteann -Ireland’s famous international stage race which attracts huge interest and participation. To make this possible, we need to redeploy all Tour de Burren resources – including planning hours and Club volunteers – to this international event.

We’re Ensuring Quality

From the accommodation options available to the facilities we use; the Tour de Burren has always had a signature of quality. As a region we’re experiencing the logistical challenge of a lack of available bed nights in the area, so are unable to accommodate cyclists to our approved standards.

Our strong team is busy behind the scenes to get the Tour de Burren back on the road in June 2024. It’s a new era and our sportive will look a little different – but we’re wholly committed to providing cyclists with a premium event that is safe, enjoyable and hugely rewarding for all. As always, our goal will be to deliver an event that incorporates the very best of the beautiful Burren landscape, offering an abundant food stop and showcases hospitality at its finest – all wrapped up in the winning colours of a Clare welcome.

Thank you for championing our journey and be sure to put Tour de Burren 2024 in your diary – we’ll be sharing details and opening registration in the autumn.
