Sam Bennett to ride Tour de Burren 2019

Due to circumstances completely beyond the control of the Burren Cycling Club, Bradley Wiggins will not be attending the Tour de Burren on Saturday 22nd June.  Ireland’s leading professional cyclist, Sam Bennett, will be joining Sean Kelly at this year’s event.

Parking

FREE parking is provided in the Green Field across from O’ Lochlainn’s Bar (same field as registration).
Camper vans and campers park for free in the Community Field.

Registration Times

Registration for all events will open on
Friday, 21st June, from 4pm until 9pm
Saturday, 22nd June, from 7am onwards

To register/sign in we require your name.  No need to worry about booking reference numbers, bar codes or paper tickets.
At registration you will receive a wrist band. Please wear the wrist band for the duration of the cycle.
No wrist band, no food.
No wrist band, no event hoodie.
No wrist band, no 99 cone.

Registration will take place in the Green Field across from O’ Lochlainn’s Bar, Ballyvaughan.

Start Times

130KM will start promptly at 9AM
100KM will start promptly at 10AM
50KM 
will start promptly at 10.10AM
14KM Family Loop will start between 10.30AM – 11AM. 

IMPORTANT: If you leave early there will be no marshals on the roads and you cycle at your own risk.  We do not recommend nor encourage any cyclist to depart before the start time.

Also showers of rain are promised throughout Saturday so please be careful on the road and come fully prepared.

Road Disruptions

There are NO road closures in place. 
But please expect delays on all approach roads to Ballyvaughan. There will be plenty of parking available in the Green Field across from O’ Lochlainn’s Bar in the heart of the village.
Please allow ample time when planning your journey to Ballyvaughan and arrive with time to spare.

All directional route signage is marked with YELLOW & BLACK signs. Please follow them.  Each route is clearly signposted so please keep your eyes open.

Food Stop

130km & 100km Food Stop is in Kilnaboy Community Hall.
Fanore National School is only a water stop for the 130km & 100km routes.

50km Food Stop is in Fanore National School.

Remember: No wrist band – No food.

No Bike Mechanic

It is your own responsibility to have your bike in good working condition.  Please double check your bike before leaving home and remember to bring spare tubes etc.

There is no bike mechanic or bike shop in Ballyvaughan or on the route.

Don’t Forget the Rules of the Road Apply

  • No helmet, No cycle.
  • There will be no road closures.
  • The event is a leisure cycle. It is not a race.
  • Participants must obey all marshals.
  • Organisers have the right to refuse participation.
  • Your bicycle should be in good working condition and road worthy. You must bring your own spare tubes etc.
  • Break downs are your own responsibility – we do not provide breakdown cover.  We will collect you as the broom passes.
  • Event shuts down at 6pm Saturday evening – the finish area will be gone if you delay coming home.

Both Sean Kelly and Bradley Wiggins will be in the photo booth at this years Tour de Burren.  If you want a picture with both these cycling legends please do not delay cycling home.

The Burren Cycling Club is a voluntary group of passionate cyclists who work hard to ensure the Tour de Burren is run to the highest of standards.

You also play a vital role in the successful running of the event.  Please prepare for the day, arrive with time to spare, have your bicycle in good working order, respect the rules of the road and be kind to your fellow cyclists, marshals and event organisers.

The Burren is a beautiful place. Please help us keep it that way. Don’t litter while cycling the Tour de Burren.

Online Entries Closed. Manual Entries taken in Ballyvaughan.

2019 Online registration is NOW CLOSED

Manual Entries to Tour de Burren will be taken on Friday afternoon from 4pm – 9pm and Saturday morning from 7am in the Registration Tent located in the Green Field across from O’Lochlainn’s Bar, Ballyvaughan.

Registration will be €60 plus €5 Cycling Ireland event insurance if you are not an valid Cycling Ireland member.

Every year the Tour de Burren committee try hard to create a piece of merchandise that our cyclists will love and use.  This year we are thrilled to bring back an old favourite- the faithful hoodie!

Everyone who enters this years Tour de Burren will receive one of these stylish event hoodies.  The hoodies are fleece lined so will keep you warm throughout the winter.
