WHERE: FREE parking is provided in the designated ‘Night into Day’ area in the Green Field beside O’ Lochlainn’s Bar (same field as registration.)

Aoife is 14 years old and urgently needs life saving neurosurgery in Barcelona. Aoife’s parents need to raise €100,000 before September, so all support is massively appreciated.

‘Night Cycle’ Briefing
WHEN: The ‘Night Cycle’ briefing will take place at 1.30AM followed by a Questions & Answers Session.

‘Night into Day’ will start promptly at 2AM
135KM will start promptly at 9AM
85KM & 60KM will start promptly at 10AM
IMPORTANT: If you leave early there will be no marshals on the roads and you cycle at your own risk. We do not recommend nor encourage
any cyclist to depart before the start time.
Also showers of rain are promised throughout Saturday so please be careful on the road and come fully prepared.
There are NO road closures in place.
But please expect delays on all approach roads to Ballyvaughan.
Please allow ample time when planning your journey to Ballyvaughan and arrive with time to spare.
All directional route signage is marked with YELLOW & BLACK signs. Please follow them. Each route is clearly sign posted so please keep your eyes open.
Night Cycle: There is NO food or water stop on the ‘Night Cycle’. Please bring your own supply of food and water.
Breakfast will be served in Monks Ballyvaughan from 5.30AM to 7AM.
Day Cycle: The only food stop on all day routes will be in Lisdoonvarna. Here you will enjoy an array of sandwiches and sweet treats, which will include our famous brown bread and smoked salmon and cheesecake.
At the food stop there will be a bike mechanic should you require assistance. Tyres and tubes will be available from the mechanic, at a COST, so please bring pocket money.
Night Cycle Route
Climb: 500m of climbing on main roads
Average Speed: 20 – 25kph until the hammer drops where you can then test your legs from there. Up to that point please respect the peloton and enjoy the experience.
The ‘Night Cycle’ is a controlled cycle until the lead car decides otherwise. It is a group cycle in the dark.
Optional Climb on Day Cycle
We have added an optional climb on the way home in Fanore.
It is 3.9KM long with an average 6%.
This climb is not to be taken lightly but the views are SPECTACULAR if the day is fine.
The decent is fast so please be careful if you decide to do it.
This option of the climb will be closed if the weather is poor.
Remember you can skip the climb if your legs do not feel up to it!!
It is 100% OPTIONAL.
The Rules of the Road Apply on the Night Cycle !!!
- No helmet, No cycle.
- You must have a front light.
- You must wear a high visibility outer clothing doing the ‘Night Cycle’.
- A back light will be provided.
- There will be no road closures.
- The event is a leisure cycle. It is not a race.
- Participants must obey all marshals.
- Organisers have the right to refuse participation.
- Your bicycle should be in excellent working condition and road worthy.
- It is important to note if you breakdown or puncture on the ‘Night Cycle’ you will be put into the Broom Wagon to regather at a point. It will not be feasible to fix breakdowns or punctures in the dark.
After you complete the Night Cycle, enjoy breakfast and recharge you have the option of cycling any of the day routes.

The Burren Cycling Club is a voluntary group of passionate cyclists who work hard to ensure the Tour de Burren is run to the highest of standards.
You also play a vital role in the successful running of the event. Please prepare for the day, arrive with time to spare, your bicycle in good working order, respect the rules of the road and be kind to your fellow cyclists, marshals and organisers.
